For over six years, the SXM Festival has graced the Caribbean island of St. Maarten. While the past two years presented challenges for everyone, this event provided a precious opportunity for festival attendees to temporarily escape the hardships and immerse themselves in a few carefree days of celebration.
And why wouldn’t they be captivated? The moment people set foot on the island, they found themselves embraced by stunning beaches, mesmerizing sunsets, and luxurious villas seamlessly blending the allure of jungle parties with the vibrant energy of beach clubs.
The event took place from March 9th to 13th, featuring diverse stages set in various locations. The production quality at each stage of the SXM Festival was truly exceptional. The Main Stage, an inspiring structure crafted from driftwood lumber, was adorned with lush grass, swaying palm trees, and suspended mystic artworks, imparting a dynamic ambience. The amalgamation of vibrant lights, dancers adorned in exotic costumes, and a powerful sound system orchestrated a unique experience.
The second stage, which hosted the Panorama Party, was situated on the side of an island mountain, immersed in the grandeur of nature. The setting provided panoramic views, overlooking rolling hills and the ocean, adding a touch of majestic allure to the event.
The music engineers in charge of the curation were Apache, Audiofly, Awly, Baham, Gab Rhome, Innellea (Live), Jimi Jules, Konstantin Sibold, Layla Benitez, Maga, Magdalena, Marco Carola, Ms. Mada, Paolo Rocco, Paso Doble, Roustam, Santiago Garcia, Tony Y Not, UnderHer, Ricardo Villalobos, Âme, Jan Blomqvist, DJ Tennis, Steve Bug, Chloé Caillet, WhoMadeWho, Dubfire, Blond:ish, Chaim, Danny Tenaglia, Carlita, Behrouz, Sonja Moonear, Hoj, YokoO, Amine K, Raresh, Emanuel Satie, amongst others.
The festival felt just like a gathering for friends; DJs mingling with the crowd fostered a sense of intimacy, as attendees found themselves in close proximity to the artists, supporting fellow DJs during their sets.
Some of our favourite moments included Behrouz’s deep set at the Boho Sunrise Party and the dynamic B2B of Ricardo Villalobos and Raresh on the main stage with acid flavours.
The experience of attending the SXM Festival is unparalleled. Encompassing world-class DJs delivering outstanding performances with breathtaking views in unique locations.
